KEEP SAKE

Image
There I was, in the middle of nowhere. With a confused mind, but bigger dreams. When one day this person suggested me to go for it and not overthink. "You are born for this." was what she said. Handing me this piece of work we created last month. It felt like adrenaline rush in my body. I was feeling confident and super energetic. I realized I could not let my dreams slip. And I would better do things the hard way than just overthinking. Sometimes all you need is a push by someone you absolutely adore. It keeps reminding me of why I am here and not losing track of my goals. This was her way of wishing me luck for my fresh new start. And I want to make the most out of it.

Greta Thunberg

Image
Greta Thunberg a teenager from Sweden leads a Global youth Movement that works for a cause to spread awareness about the climate change. Her actions started with a solitary strike outside the Sweden Parliament and now she has managed to bring together millions of students and workers on the streets demanding action on climate change. Thunberg states that she was 7 to 8 years old when she came across the climate change. She was curious about how the planet is facing such a major issue and nobody is actually doing anything about it. Thunberg says she first heard about climate change in 2011, when she was eight years old, and could not understand why so little was being done about it. The situation made her depressed and as a result, at the age of 11, she stopped talking and eating much and lost ten kilograms in two months. Eventually, she was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), and selective mutism. Thunberg left her childhood behind just to make people

How are young leaders forcing world leader to act on climate change?

Image
UN secretary-general Antonio Gutierrez says the world is facing a climate emergency and with political will to respond to the emergency there’s a growing movement of young people fighting to address the inaction. As the world leaders failed to agree upon a solution people are taking matters into their own hands. Launched on April 18 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts, the SUNRISE MOVEMENT wounded their way across the Midwest all the way to the west coast and down the south and back to DC. It was a life-giving moving movement for the Sunrise movement as they met people in IOWA which is incredibly important state as they were moving into the Presidential elections in the US and were inundated by climate fuelled floods. The pollution that emanates from corporate agriculture has been horrendous for the communities of IOWA. They travelled to places like CHICO and PARADISE CALIFORNIA which was burnt down to rubble that 19000 of 20000 structures no longer exist. It is pretty striking in itself lay

The People's Voice: Fight for our Environmental Future

Climate change refers to long-term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. These shifts may be natural, such as through variations in the solar cycle. But since the 1800s, human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to burning fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. Fig. 1 :Climate Change Climate change is an existential threat to the world. The world health org predicts that in 30 years climate change will be directly responsible for the deaths 250000 people each year.  While Government is being ignorant, determined pressure groups believe the change is possible and these movements are gathering momentum. THE SUNRISE MOVEMENT Fig. 2 : The Origin of The Sunrise Movement -The Sunrise movement is a group of activists which was led by 26-year-old Varshney Prakash and was followed by nearly 100000 members most of them being under 30 -The agenda was clear - To halt the climate change and Pressurizing Government to work for the matter. -The movement came int

MASLOW'S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS

Image
Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a motivational theory in psychology comprising a five-tier model of human needs, often depicted as hierarchical levels within a pyramid. From the bottom of the hierarchy upwards, the needs are:   - Physiological - Safety   - Love and Belonging - Esteem - Self-actualization Every person is capable and has the desire to move up the hierarchy toward a level of self-actualization. Unfortunately, progress is often disrupted by a failure to meet lower level needs. Fig. I : Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs 1.  Physiological needs  - these are biological requirements for human survival, e.g. air, food, drink, shelter, clothing, warmth, sex, sleep. If these needs are not satisfied the human body cannot function optimally. Maslow considered physiological needs the most important as all the other needs become secondary until these needs are met.
